I took your EIT Review course last
year and passed the test first time.
I am now taking the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers-sponsored
course for the Principles and Practices part of the exam,
and it is AWFUL compared to your review and teaching methods.
I would like to encourage you to teach a course in this and to contact SNAME
about its availability.
The current course uses professors who are pretty poor teachers in some
instances;
the Webinar format of live seminars is kind of balky and the teachers seldom
have any experience using it;
sometimes the sound doesn't work; the problems presented sometimes are
overly complicated for an exam problem,
and sometimes the answer isn't even presented !
And in general the course is a 3 hour a week, 12 week do-it-yourself study
review for $750
that does little if any classroom type review of the fundamentals as you do
in your course.
For the most part the teachers only go over problem solutions for the
problems they assigned.
Your course was so much better than this, I can't tell you.
Unfortunately the exam is in April, so it's too late to switch.
The total number of us is pretty small compared to Mechanical, Civil, or
Electrical,
but if you are needing some addition content, please consider it.
I have recommended you to several collegues and associates.
Thanks again for the help on the EIT.
Best

Hello Mike -
I went through most of the program in a
little over six months - then went back and forth on various topics as
needed.
I had signed up a few months before the April exam but set my sights on
the October date in order to make sure I had plenty of prep time. However,
that might not be indicative of the average.
Ensys may have better statistics on that.
My goal was to spend 1-2 hrs a day, 5-6 days a week.
The other cool thing is 24hr access.
If I travelled, I would go online and study.
It is quite painless.
Ironically, I found the program helped me with my work -
it is easy to get into rut and go through the daily motions, but by
studying the basics again, I found myself seeing things in a new light and
with greater insight.
Engineering is a craft and needs to be practiced.
This program kept me practicing and renewed my interest.

With regards to the review, I believe it is an excellent program and well
worth the time and effort.
I graduated many years ago and it brings you up to speed quite quickly.
I had made attempts to use the eit books in the past, but lost interest -

I don't think the professor taught the course effectively.
I think he spent too much time going over derivations to the
differential equations, which can be done in MatLab or MathCAD and were
published in the textbook, and not enough time solving examples to
understand what the results mean physically.
Your sites helped out a great deal.
Quite a few of the MathCAD sites were related to vibrations and dynamics

The problems are going good. I'm almost done with fluids.
I never would have gotten this far on my own.
I'm very happy with the way you present the material.
Before, when I worked with the Lindeburg book alone, I was very confused
because he skips too many steps, resulting in much discouragement and
frustration.
Though I'm moving slow through the course (because of time availability),
the important thing to me is that I'm definitely
progressing!
My only problem is with the sometimes complicated (to me) algebraic
manipulation needed to get where you need to be with a problem. That's my
devil. With the other calculators, a lot of this could be bypassed with
their solving capabilities. I wonder if test scores will be lower without
them. I guess that's just the way things are.
Thanks again,
Joe

Hello Mary Ann,
Thanks for your E-mail about ENSYS.
I would highly recommend this course
for you as your background seems ideal (a while out of school but with
an engineering background).
I probably had one of the weaker backgrounds
of most people as I majored in Biochem, so I had more than enough
chemistry, but virtually none of the engineering courses, and only basic
trig and calculus and no diff. equat..
I took the ENSYS course about 2
years ago so I'm sure that ENSYS has continued to improve it.
Surprisingly, I found the math part to be among the
easiest parts of the course and I think you will also.
Some subjects I knew well (chemistry, material
mechanics), some came easily to me even though I never had any formal
courses.
In The ENSYS course,
about 90% of the time was spent working practice exam type problems and
reviewing them.
The problems are worked on a white board which takes up
most of your computer screen and you watch them being solved after you
work on them yourself.
I felt fully confident to take the
exam after talking the course and I think you would find that it gives
you about everything you need to pass the exam.
I passed the EIT exam which I took last April, 2002
with a score of 75%. "ENSYS-EIT REVIEW" helped me a lot to prepare and
study thoroughly via the diversity of subjects taught in the review.
Having been out of school for 26 years, I have found the review truly
helpful in refreshing my memory regarding the subjects. I thank you
again for your assistance and support; I am looking forward to attending
the PE Civil Review with ENSYS to pursue a career as a professional
engineer.

I checked with 4 of the people you

reference hasn't responded yet. I would like to go ahead with the
registration process for the F E ,E I T review starting this October.
Call or e-mail me with anything you require of me to get onboard. I
would also like to now if you have any suggestions on some pre-review
study I can do over the summer. The attraction of your course to me is
being able to learn subjects that I didn't have at Colorado State
University and relearn things that I haven't used for decades. I'm
hopeful the cost is justified and that my company will participate in
all or some of the expense. Another interesting problem that I have had
to deal with is the time and duration of the review course. Not everyone
understands that to accomplish something worthwhile sacrifices are
necessary. Thanks for the call yesterday. I sense you are committed to
education as much or more than your business enterprise.

I may not be as good a source to
check with, when compared to some others who are now completing the F E
review, as I am just starting to prepare for the Oct., 2000 exam.
However, I'll tell you what I know! Like you, I have been out of school
for over 20 years but preparing for the E I T , F E exam seemed to be a
challenge I could handle. I bought several of the PPI books
(Professional Publications, - E I T Review Manual, etc.), and studied
for a month or so, and then decided to go with the ENNSIS program. I
majored in Biochemistry so I never had any courses in about half of the
subjects on the exam. While I have worked, as you have, in engineering
positions, my limited expertise, (pumps, motors, hydraulics, etc.),
requires that I master so much that I never studied ,(dynamics, statics,
electronics, roads, trusses,
etc.). In addition, I have to go back and 're-master' subjects I studied
in the 1970's but have rarely used since, (calculus, etc.). I felt that
the ENNSIS fee was worthwhile, (my company is paying for it anyway!).
as, from my investigations, ENNSIS seems to have a very good system down
for people like us, (who have engineering backgrounds but limited
experience with many subjects). I am very optimistic that this is just
what I need to pass. Hope this helps.

I have spent the last hour or so looking at some of your courses on the

take the FE in the spring of 2001. This seems to be the earliest I can
be ready for the test. My problem is I graduated from CSU over 22 years
ago. Obviously almost all of my math and engineering courses are a
distant memory. I have been reviewing the EIT review manual and need to
spend a bunch of time on the math. That is why I'm e-mailing you. What
are your recommendations for review courses? I'm considering your FE
review course this fall, but with the entire spring and summer ahead I
need to start now on some of this material. Your experience and opinion
might also be valuable in my planning. Have you ever help prepare some
for these exams that has been out of school as long as me? Am I allowing
enough time to study and review for the exam based on my situation? Thanks in advance for taking the time to offer me some guidance.

I took the ENSYS review
for a Dynamics class at UCF which helped me to not only pass the course
with a "B" but I didn't even have to go to class. I learned much more
than the people that attended boring lectures and I just worked problems
with Ensys a few days a week. The EIT review that I attended in the fall
of 1999 was excellent. I passed the EIT after failing my first try. If
you attend every class from the beginning and you aren't a total idiot
you will have no problem passing the EIT after ENSYS prepares you for
the exam. I have a total of 220 credit hours of college level classes
from 3 different universities and have never experienced a more
understanding and patient
teacher.

All I know it that without the ENSYS review course,
I would be sitting where you are, and thats having to take that terrible
test again. Very frustrating, but I tell you what, I have never learned
so much in six months of my life. The ENSYS review was so easy to
follow. Ensys ability to explain things in multiple ways was amazing, no
matter what the problem was, he never left me hanging, I always
understood at the end. It takes a lot of dedication, but at the end, you
as a person and as an engineer, have been sharply tuned. On a seperate
note, Ensys rates, at around one dollar per hour are incredibly low! I
couldnt belive how much personal attention, I was getting at such a
cheap price. Just go to his website to get a price comparsion. Not to
mention, your company will probably help you pay for it. Just one man’s
experience over a four year period of taking couses with Ensys.

I tried the FE review
videos, after having been out of school for 21 years, and I found that
they were not detailed enough in my case (I was a Biochem major) - they
assumed that you had too much background and knowledge for me.
I looked into my university review course ($1,800 for 30 hours seemed
pricey). I ended up going with the ENSYS on-line review course (www.ensys.net)
and it was great - approx. 1000 hours of detailed review of each subject
(on weekends). You might look into this. Hope this helps!
07
Kerry
I completed the ENSYS (www.ensys.net)
review course for the FE exam, which ran Apr. thru Oct. this year. I
found this to be an excellent course which I would highly recommend to
anyone, particu-larly if you have been out of school a while or, like
me, if you never had some of the courses in college. It costs more than
using just a PPI review book, but it is less costly than a university
review (I checked out my Alma Mater, F.A.U. in Boca Raton) and
significantly more thorough (compare (10) 3 hour days at the college to
approx. 1000 hours for the ENSYS course. I took (2) 8 hour practice
exams
after the course and scored nearly 80% (raw score) compared to under 30%
prior to the course. I'll let you know how my actual test score goes! I
purchased a set of FE/EIT Review video tapes and ended up returning them
because they did not go into enough background. My experience is that if
you are a recent graduate and had all of the courses (statics, dynamics,
thermo, fluids, circuits, etc.), then you have enough time, with the PPI
books (I recommend both the review manual and the reference manual) to
study for the April exam. A thorough working of all of the sample
problems should be enough for you. If, like me, you graduated a while
ago and did not have some of the courses, then I recommend an Internet
course from ENSYS (www.ensys.net)
- It made all the difference for me. Hope this helps!
06
Mike,
I just completed the ENSYS FE review course given over the internet (www.ensys.net)
and it is excellent. I will be taking the FE in Ga. also.

In Response To: FE Coures (Greg M)
I am nearing completion of the FE review course given over the internet,
from ENSYS (www.ensys.net)
and it is excellent I would highly recommend it for consideration,
particularly if you have been out of school for a while, or, like me,
never had some of the courses (statics, thermo, etc.).
I have been preparing for the Oct., 2000 FE exam since Jan. and I can give
you some advice, for what it's worth;
A) If you graduated 5 years ago and you took the majortity of the classes
on the test subjects (statics, fluid mech.,electrical, etc.) you
shouldn't have any problem with reviewing using the PPI 'Review Manual'.
I also recommend
the larger Reference Manual as it has more background for any of your weak
areas.
B) If you are like me, or others I know (who gradauted many years ago
and/or did not take many of the classes on which the test is based) I
would look into a review class. I looked into classes at nearby
universities and they ran $1,500-$2,000 for 30 hours - 3 hours of review
per subject, which hardly seemed worthwhile. My option, which I highly
recommend is the ENSYS FE review given over the internet (www.ensys.net).
I am nearly done with the April-Oct. review and it has been excellent,
as I feel very confident for the upcoming exam. It is comparable to the
university reviews costwise, but you get 1000 hours of review and you
will work every type of exam problem many times, review all theory, and
work
several practice exams.
Hope this helps!
