QUICK EXAM-FACTS:          Eligibility, credentials and qualifications for the license certification-exams requires accreditation of your engineering degree by ABET.                                        Foreign-educated engineers can get an evaluation of their credits, for Abet equivalency by submitting their school transcripts or diplomas to NCEES.                                        The only aids allowed in the Pe Civil engineer-in training, fundamentals of engineering exam is the NCEES formula book which contains equations. No notes, study-guides, manuals, study-materials or media are allowed. The formula book does not contain examples or worked problems.                                        Re-grading appeals for below-cutoff grades or low cut-scores is not permitted.Grading and scoring takes 3 months, the assessment and outcome deficiencies are noted in a diagnostic grade-report.Users who pass or fail are notified by postal mail.                                        Examination candidates or applicants must submit their applications and register before the deadlines with their state licensing board a few months before the April and October dates.                                        The only calculators allowed are on the NCEES list.                                        The Eit exam format has an am, pm and discipline-specific parts. The Pe exams have breadth and depth parts.                                        The difficulties of the exams vary and the cut-off score is adjusted accordingly.                                        Users who fail when getting a grade below the cut-score, can reapply for a retake.                                        Some states grant exemptions for the EIT exam, depending on experience, the criteria depend on the candidate.                                        In most states, the Eit certification has no expiration date.                                        In most states the Pe license expires every two years and requires renewal.                                        The licensure exams test for minimum competence.                                        Pe graduates who need to practice in other states can apply for comity and reciprocity.                                        NCEES publishes a summary of the exam standards and specifications, with outlines of the subjects, topics,  in the exam syllabus.                                        NCEES publishes the passing statistics.                                        NCEES now requires registration of users in a database which tracks exam-takes and a record of results of passing or failing exams.                                        Some states have a limit of takes, users who are repeatedly failing exams may get a reevaluation of their credentials.                                        Pe applicants must submit professional references for compliance with state board requirements.                                                       Live Online Engineering Tutoring In New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Antonio, Dallas, Detroit, San Jose, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, San Francisco, Columbus, Austin, Memphis, Baltimore, Charlotte, Fort Worth, Boston, Milwaukee, El Paso, Washington, Nashville, Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, Oklahoma City, Tucson, Albuquerque, Atlanta, Long Beach, Kansas City, Fresno, New Orleans, Cleveland, Sacramento, Mesa, Virginia Beach, Omaha, Colorado Springs, Oakland, Miami, Tulsa, Minneapolis, Honolulu, Arlington, Wichita, St. Louis, Raleigh, Santa Ana, Cincinnati, Anaheim, Tampa, Toledo, Pittsburgh, Aurora, Bakersfield, Riverside, Stockton, Corpus Christi, Lexington-Fayette, Buffalo, St. Paul, Anchorage, Newark, Plano, Fort Wayne, St. Petersburg, Glendale, Lincoln, Norfolk, Jersey City, Greensboro, Chandler, Birmingham, Henderson, Scottsdale, North Hempstead, Madison, Hialeah, Baton Rouge, Chesapeake, Orlando, Lubbock, Garland, Akron, Rochester, Chula Vista, Reno, Laredo, Durham, Modesto, Huntington, Montgomery, Boise, Arlington, San Bernardino engineering tutor in alabama, alaska, arizona, arkansas, california, colorado, connecticut, delaware, florida, georgia, hawaii, idaho, illinois, indiana, iowa, kansas, kentucky, lousiana, maine, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, mississippi, missouri, montana, nebraska, nevada, new hampshire, new jersey, new mexico, new york, north carolina, north dakota, ohio, oklahoma, oregon, pennsylvania, rhode island, south carolina, south dakota, tennessee, texas, utah, vermont, virginia, washington, west virginia, wisconsin, wyoming VIEW THE USER-INTERFACE !     One-Click Access To All Your Learning-Tools !

THE R-I-M-S METHOD

Real-time - Interactive - Monitored - Problem-Solving

RIMS is an alternative method to learn engineering science, pioneered and developed by ENSYS

RIMS has been succesfully implemented by ENSYS for over 50,000 hours to train thousands of engineering students and professionals.

RIMS has shown dramatic improvements in the acquisition, comprehension and retention of engineering knowledge.

In the RIMS-method, MORE is learned in LESS time

One hour of RIMS session time equals 5 to 10 hours of self-study by the users

RIMS is implemented as a time-management tool in engineering coursework with dramatically improved understanding, comprehension and retention.

The objective of RIMS is to facilitate faster learning with greater understanding, comprehension and retention.

In this format, users meet for regularly scheduled sessions by attending the Orlando Conference room, or via MultiPoint Conferencing, login from anywhere worldwide.

RIMS integrates problem-solving, feedback and interactioN

Into a highly structured time-management program.

All topics are first presented as a step-by-step procedure

Followed by problems which are solved simultaneously by users and by the instructor.

The user receives his tasks in the form of an array of problems, sequenced in increasing difficulty-levels.

Technical information is strategically presented and constantly displayed on information screens.

Predetermined time periods are then given to work on problems

Users hand-solve all problems during the session thus retaining control of their skill-development, which now proceeds in a managed interactive format.

While users hand-solve the problems, the solution is simultaneously presented live, in real-time on the computer screen.

While the user is working on the problem

His work is monitored and feedback on algebraic errors, conceptual errors, solution-procedures and problem-solving methodology is presented.

Users can get instant feedback while solving problems by discussing solution strategies with the instructor or with other conference members.

Now when the user encounters difficulties, he has available to him a hierarchy of help-levels.

The user can select the level and number of help-levels depending on the severity of his difficulties: technical information screens, the solution screen and communication channels with the instructor and other users are available.

The user obtains instant clarification of concepts, equations, procedures and mistakes.

Problem-solving is followed by

A detailed discussion of solution strategies.

After the preset time-period has expired, the problem is carefully analyzed in a group discussion where additional clarification is given.

The cycle then repeats in the next problem.

In the eit and pe training programs, users hand solve between 5,000 and 10,000 problems

Users gain confidence, practice and skill and are provided with feedback, reinforcement, repetition and discussion in every phase of the Training program.

Users are organized

With a comprehensive course kit, with color-coded sheets for quick access to material.

RIMS is a revolutionary new method to learn engineering

RIMS targets the problems, inefficiencies, duplication and delays of the old method of learning engineering science

RIMS has shown dramatic improvements in the performance of engineering students

The objective of RIMS is to facilitate faster learning

With greater understanding, comprehension and retention by engineering knowledge workers: students, technicians, engineering professionals.

In the RIMS format, users meet for regularly scheduled sessions

By attending the Orlando session room, or via MultiPoint Conferencing from anywhere worldwide.

RIMS integrates all traditional information-sources

With problem-solving, feedback and interaction into a highly structured time-management program.

In each RIMS session the user receives his tasks in the form of an array of problems

Sequenced in increasing difficulty-levels.

Technical information is strategically presented and constantly displayed on information screens.

Predetermined time periods are then given to work on problems in which the user retains control of his skill-development, which now proceeds in a managed interactive format.

Concurrently, the problem solution is presented on solution screens.

WHILE the user solves the problem

His work is monitored and feedback on algebraic errors, conceptual errors, solution-procedures and problem-solving methodology is presented.

Now when the user encounters difficulties, he has available to him a hierarchy of help-levels.

The user can select the level and number of help-levels depending on the severity of his difficulties: technical information screens, the solution screen and communication channels with the instructor and other users are available.

STEP 09   THE COURSE MANUAL   ORGANIZATION
STEP 10

IN-BETWEEN SESSIONS

REINFORCEMENT

STEP 1 : THE SESSION PROGRAM

The session program outlines the tasks to be performed in the session

It presents the structure of the chapter broken down into topics and subtopics.

Next to each topic is shown an array of problems which is carefully sequenced in level of difficulty.

This array of problems is compiled from the class textbook, other textbooks and old exams, and includes assigned homework problems

STEP 2 : THE PINK SHEET = SUMMARY SHEET

The first topic is discussed in a step-by-step procedure

The user may have been exposed to the material in his lectures.

The session does not duplicate the lectures.

The emphasis is on methodology, not on theory.

All theory and concepts from lectures and textbooks is presented in step-by-step outline form with the important aspects heavily emphasized.

Problem-solving, “how-to” procedures are presented.

Careful attention should be paid to the information.

STEP 3 : THE YELLOW SHEET = CHAPTER FLOWCHART

The Chapter Flowchart integrated and summarizes all the pink-sheets of a chapter

It represents all equations, procedures and methods of a chapter in diagram form.

The chapter flowchart is presented when sufficient material in a chapter has been covered.

STEP 4 : THE WHITE SHEET = PROBLEM SHEET

The Pink-Sheet is followed up by problems worked by users

Users reinforce and practice with the information presented in the Pink Sheet.

The problems are sequenced in increasing difficulty-levels.

DIFFICULTY-LEVELS
DIFFICULTY-LEVEL: ONE STAR

Straightforward application of equations.

Designed to familiarize the user with the equations and problem-solving procedures.

DIFFICULTY-LEVEL: TWO STAR

More challenging problems.

Requires more reasoning skills and interpretation.

Representative of exam problems.

DIFFICULTY-LEVEL: THREE STAR

Challenging problems.

Requires a comprehensive understanding of the theory.

Designed to test competence in the material.

DIFFICULTY-LEVEL: FOUR STAR

Very challenging problems.

Requires a comprehensive and thorough understanding of the theory.

Designed to test mastery of the material.

Users are given a pre-determined amount of time to work on the problem depending on the difficulty level.

It is important to work fast and to be accurate.

Quiet work is essential.

It is recommended to work each problem on a separate sheet.

HELP-LEVELS When mistakes are made or difficulties are encountered, a hierarchy of help-levels is available.

HELP-LEVEL1

Problem Solution presented simultaneously by the instructor
HELP-LEVEL 2

Pink Sheet

HELP-LEVEL 3

Yellow Sheet

HELP-LEVEL 4

Other users

HELP-LEVEL 5

Questions to Instructor

HELP-LEVEL 6 Group Discussion: long, involved discussions can be deferred to the group discussion

The ground-rule is that the user should exhaust all help-levels first to resolve his situation before asking questions

This will greatly increase the efficiency of the session.

The problem-solving course uses a group format and should not be interpreted as private instruction.

Other training programs such as Private Instruction and Group Instruction are available for users who require excessive assistance and support.

The time allowed for questions has to be distributed evenly over all users and cannot be devoted constantly to one user only.

The user is expected to make serious attempts at resolving his difficulties on his own, using all available help-levels.

It may be very tempting to ask questions in rapid-fire succession as soon as the slightest difficulty is encountered.

Other training programs such as Private Instruction and Group Instruction are available for users who require excessive assistance and support.

When asking questions, thoughtfully construct the question, verbalize carefully and be specific

The better the question is worded the better the response will be.

The user should keep comparing his solution provided as he works the problem.

This will aid early detection of any mistakes.

Users should first look at the solution screen to find numerical results of calculations before asking for the answers

This will prevent unnecessary repetition and will save session resources.

Users who arrive late in the session will not be offered assistance for missed material

Questions dealing with missed material will not be taken.

It is important that the user does not compromise the flow of the session.

The user can make up missed material on his own time.

STEP 5 : THE GREEN SHEET = CALCULATOR ROUTINES

Relevant calculator routines are explained and implemented in the sessions

Users are expected to be familiar with the TI-89 basics such as data input, syntax, data editing

STEP 6 : THE GROUP DISCUSSION

After the time-period has expired

the entire group stops working on the problem and the solution is carefully analyzed.

Please pay careful attention here because the problem-discussion is used to reinforce and to amplify the aspects of the theory discussed earlier in the Pink-Sheet.

Information is presented in layered form

1. Information is first introduced in the Pink-Sheet

2. Users interpret and apply the information when working the problem

3. The information is reinforced in the group-discussion

After the goup-discussion, users will have been exposed to the information three times.

Additional layers of reinforcement, amplification and extension of the topic information are given when users

continue with solving additional problems, which are aequenced in increasing difficulty-levels.

Each problem is carefully selected to reinforce and explain a specific aspect of the theory

Not paying attention in the group discussion will mean unnecessary questions later.

The problem-solving procedure is reinforced, alternate solutions are discussed and additional questions are answered.

Principles are reinforced and repeated.

Finishing the problem early

If you finish the problem early, use the remaining time to review your solution, review the solution on your computer screen.

It is important not to distract or disrupt other users.

If you need to discuss or compare your solution with another user please be discreet.

Not finished with the problem

If you have not finished the problem when the group-discussion starts it is recommended that you stop working on the problem and that you participate in the discussion.

The information provided will be helpful in correcting any mistakes made. To complete your solution you can:

1. ask questions or

2. skip the next problem and use that time to finish your solution or

3. complete your solution after the session

STEP 7 : SESSION MATERIAL

It is recommended that users handcopy the Pink-Sheets and master-solution during the sessions

Only material displayed during the session will be made available to users.

Session-material not displayed in the session can be made available in extra sessions under Private Instruction or Group Instruction.

These extra sessions are billed separately.

The following sheets are displayed in the sessions:

1. Session Program

2. Pink Sheet: problem-solving procedures

3. Yellow Sheet: chapter flowchart

4. Green Sheet: calculator routines

5. White Sheet: problem solution

6. Blue Sheet: proofs

STEP 8 : THE COURSE MANUAL

It is recommended that users organize all session-material in a  three inch, 3-ring binder

Organization is the key element of the problem-solving course.

At the end of the session, the entire whiteboard will be emailed to users.

Users can print out the entire session and file in the binder.

STEP 9 : IN-BETWEEN SESSIONS - FEEDBACK

1. Users should rework the problems in-between sessions

First work the problems which presented difficulties in the session or which were not completely worked out in the session.

Reworking the problems will increase problem-solving speed and will reinforce principles and procedures.

2. Review the Pink-Sheets

3. Review the Yellow Sheets

  • Most engineering learning in school is done for short-term memory, just enough to pass exams, which results in a rapid decay of knowledge

  • The ubiquitous curving system in engineering school seriously degrades and undermines long-term understanding and retention, corrupts the       learning process and further accelerates the decay process

  • Engineers coming out of school experience the two-year half-life: fifty percent of knowledge is lost every two years

  • Users realize that only a massive re-education effort will prepare them for the professional engineers license

  • Users face the daunting process of having to relearn all their coursework

  • In their university catalogs, users are not required to take all the EIT/PE component-courses

  • Users come to the realization that the only way to get ready for licensure is to go back to engineering school, to become re-educated in     engineering by retaking the entire five year engineering degree, to get a complete re-education

  • With work, family, life and financial responsibilities, this is impossible, users have neither the time nor the financial resources nor the inclination to retake the five year engineering program

  • Users realize that the only way to pass the EIT/PE exam is to become completely re-educated in the course-work

HOW DOES THE ENTIRE REVIEW INDUSTRY SOLVE THIS PROBLEM ?

  • With 30 hour EIT/PE refreshers costing as much as $ 3000

  • These refreshers are only designed to refresh, they are not designed to re-educate the five years of the engineering degree

  • Users taking 30-hour refreshers find that there is nothing to refresh, all knowledge is gone !

WHAT DOES THE FIVE YEAR ENGINEERING DEGREE PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY CONTAIN ?

  • The engineering degree program contains 30 engineering courses, each course has 60 hours of class-time, for a total of 1800 hours of class-time

  • Most universities charge out-of-state tuition for post-graduate engineering courses

  • The average cost of a post-graduate course is $ 3000, resulting in a tuition bill of $ 90,000 for around 30 courses if taken at the university.
Users are only interested in obtaining the knowledge, they already have their degrees

  • The university system is not designed for re-education

  • With respect to time: users dont have five years to retake engineering courses at the university and delay five years of PE salary

  • With respect to logistics: engineering courses are given in the mornings when engineers have to work

  • With respect to finances: users dont have $ 90,000 to spend on retaking the five year engineering degree

WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL BENEFITS OF THE ENSYS EIT/PE RE-EDUCATION PROGRAM ?

  • ENSYS is the only institution which has recognized this challenging re-education problem faced by engineers

  • We realize that licensure is the gateway to much higher earnings for engineers

  • The average PE salary is $ 25,000 more than non-PE salary, resulting in up to $ 1,000,000 more in career earnings

  • We have solved this challenging re-education problem by pioneering and developing the engineering re-education program

  • We are the only organization in the world offering a 2000 hour engineering re-education program which completely re-teaches all 1800 hours of     the entire five year engineering degree at rates from $ 1.00 to $ 1.80 per hour

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF THE ENSYS EIT/PE RE-EDUCATION PROGRAM ?

  • The program is offered in five training formats which gives users maximum flexilbility

  • It compresses the entire 5-year engineering degree into two, 6 to 12 month re-education programs

  • The lecture format is replaced by a very effective hands-on problem-solving training format

  • The EIT re-education program runs for 1000 hours over a 6 to 12 month period

  • The PE re-education program runs for 1000 hours over a 6 to 12 month period

  • 30 engineering courses are taught,  each course has 66 hours of session time, for a total of 2000 hours of class time

  • Between 10,000 and 20,000 problems are solved by users

  • Users can take either the EIT program or the PE program, or both

  • The training industry bills at $ 20 to $ 50 per instruction hour, ENSYS bills at $ 1.00  to $ 1.80 per instruction hour

I am in a field that requires my PE. I am doing Civil site design (Paving, roads, grading, drainage, sanitary, etc..) mostly for housing developments and other large projects. My boss has been on me about passing it and bugging me about making sure I study, but he wont pay for the test, or study materials, and wants me to use a vacation day to take it. I am not willing to do that so I will just work 10 hours a day now through thursday to get my 40 in so I dont have to take a vacation day.
05

I can't believe it! My boss paid for all the study materials for both the EIT and PE, the exam costs, refresher course and put the exam time on overhead. He also has been pumping me up about a nice raise once I pass! I am not bragging just humbled by my employers generosity after reading this thread. I only wish you all could have the same positive experiences in your current job that I have with my employer. Wish you all the best on the test!

I am having trouble staying motivated as well. I think it's stress. It takes a lots from you, from your family life; jealousy at work don't help as well. Listen,  pass it and get yourself something you always wanted but wasn't ever be able to get it. You know what I mean.
Don't forget, the exam is the only way to get promoted, to get a a raise, and (for some reason) to get respect from other engineers.

I have sat twice for the Civil PE
I am afraid I have not studied enough. I studied a couple of hours a day for the last month. It was depressing because I have prepared twice before using 4 HP48GX calcs programmed to the hilt in my areas of specialty. I set out to make up for my historic weak points this time around but once again did not cover much there. I hope it is an easy test this time. The first one I did back in the fall of 2002 had an easy AM. I blew it in the PM that time attempting Trans. The second attempt in the fall of 2003 had a hard AM and an equally hard ENV PM. Scored the same both times. 59.

I plan to take the civil/structural again in Oct. I studied the CERM and the NCEES Sample Questions-Civil, also took a university review course. Any suggestions on how/what to study, review materials or test taking methods?
I've struggled w/ deciding to go back for a PE, but I too would have to take the FE first.  I've tried reviewing, but after being out of school for over 10 years myself, it seems that I've forgotten everything that I would have known off the top of my head right after I graduated.  I should have taken the FE then, but didn't.  With a full-time job and two small boys, the amount of time to pass the FE just seemed too insurmountable and would detract from my time w/ my boys while they are small.  If you've got the time, I say go for it, but plan on a disciplined study schedule just to prepare for the FE, not to mention the PE in the future.  You are looking at devoting 5 years of your life or more to obtaining a PE.  Right now, the sacrifice just doesn't justify itself when compare to my family.  Perhaps in a few years when my boys are older, but not now, as I definitely think it is always a bonus to keep improving yourself and making yourself more marketable.

PROBLEMS WITH PASSING THE EXAMS

01 You studied hard but you draw blanks on the exams

02 You run out of time on the exam

03 You keep failing the exam

04

Lack of Motivation: A talent is irrelevant if a person is not motivated to use it.  Motivation may be external (for example, social approval) or internal (satisfaction from a job well done).  External sources tend to be transient, while internal sources tend to produce more consistent performance.

05

Lack of Impulse Control: Habitual impulsiveness gets in the way of optimal performance. Some people do not bring their full intellectual resources to bear on a problem, but go with the first solution that pops into their heads.

06 Lack of perseverance and too much perseveration: Some people give up too easily, while others are unable to stop even when the quest will be fruitless.

07 Using the wrong abilities: People may not be using the right abilities for the tasks in which they are engaged.

08 Inability to translate thought into action: Some people seem buried in thought.  They have good ideas but rarely seem able to do anything about them.

09 Lack of product orientation: some people seem more concerned about the process rather than the result of the activity

10 Inability to complete tasks:  For some people nothing ever draws to a close.  Perhaps it's a fear of what they would do next or fear of becoming hopelessly enmeshed in detail.

11 Failure to initiate: Still others are unwilling or unable to initiate a project.  It may be indecision or fear of commitment.

12 Fear of failure:  People may not reach their intellectual performance because they avoid the really important challenges in life.

13 Procrastination:  Some people are unable to act without pressure.  They may also look for little things to do in order to put off the big ones.

14 Misattribution of blame: Some people always blame themselves for even the slightest mishap.  Some always blame others

15 Excessive self pity: Some people spend more time feeling sorry for themselves than expending the effort necessary to overcome the problem

24 Excessive dependency: Some people expect others to do for them what they ought  to be doing for themselves

16

Wallowing in personal difficulties.  Some people let their personal difficulties interfere grossly with their work. During the course of life, one can expect some real joys and some real sorrows.  Maintaining a proper perspective is difficult

17 Distractibility and lack of concentration: Even some intelligent people have very short attention spans

18

Spreading oneself too thin or too thick.  Undertaking too many activities may result in none being completed on time.  Undertaking too few can also result in missed opportunities and reduced levels of accomplishment

19

Inability to delay gratification: Some people reward themselves and are rewarded by others for finishing small tasks, while avoiding bigger tasks that would earn them larger rewards

20

Inability to see the forest through the trees: some people become obsessed with details and are either unwilling or unable to see or deal with the larger picture in the projects they undertake.

21

Lack of balance between critical analytic thinking and creative synthetic thinking.  It is important for people to learn what kind of thinking is expected of them in each situation

22

Too little or too much self-confidence.  Lack of self confidence can gnaw away at a persons; ability to get things done and may become a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Conversely, individuals with too much self-confidence may not know when to admit they are wrong or in need of self improvement.

  CASE STUDIES

That depends on a lot of factors such as which exam you are taking and knowing, and being honest about, your capabilities entering exam preparation. Passing this exam is going to require not only recognizing what formulas are needed to calculate something, but understanding the concepts behind the formulas. It's going to require knowing where charts, tables, etc. are in the various codes so that time is not wasted searching for them during the exam. Then there's the large variation in passing rates for the various disciplines. The majority of the disciplines have a 50 to 60% national passing rate. The lowest passing rate is consistently for the Strucutral PE Exam which has between 30% and 45% national passing rate.
I was a "B" Civil Engineering student that went into Structural Engineering upon graduation. My job requires getting many designs engineered and sold as quickly as possible and spreadsheets for beams, columns, concrete bearing, retaining wall design, etc. are used meaning I don't really get the kind of practice on the job to keep me fresh on the kinds of problems you typically see on the PE Exam. I took the exam for the first time last fall and studied everyday for two to three hours for 3 months. I entered the Structural PE Exam feeling prepared and confident only to fail with a grade in the 60's (70 is a passing score). My exam experience taught me that there were some concepts that I ignored while studying only to find these concepts being tested on the exam. Anything is possible so you can not study too much and anything on the NCEES' topic list is fair game.
I emphasize that I am speaking from my experiences, and the experiences of colleagues and friends, preparing for and taking the strucutral PE exam. We all felt there simply was not enough time to answer 80 questions on the exam prepared or not prepared. I've heard test takers in other disciplines claim to have had time to finish the entire test and check their answers so I stress you might want to get opinions from test takers in your discipline. Good luck!!!

I have taken the FE exam twice and failed. Right now I am so sad and depressed. I made a 69 on my first attempt, while taking 14 credit hours in school and working 30+ hours per week. The funny thing is that I did studied and still failed. The second attempt, I ended up with a 67, which is worst that the first attempt, even though I studied about the same amount of time. How far away from passing am I, please advised. Is the 69 score means approximatey one question or is it more? Now I have graduated and I think this is my last change to take it again, here in Florida, because of the 3-attempt Law from the FBPE. This is why I failed  the exam twice, I believed. I Ran out of time , panicked and guessed. I graduated with a 3.1 gpa and can't seems to passed the exam. I am registered to take the exam again in Florida, but if I fail it can I go to another state and take and avoid going back to school. Will Florida accept the out of State EIT?
F.Y.I: The first time I took the exam was in Oct 2004, before Florida cahnged the 5 attempt to 3. Is there a grandfather clause for people who took the exam prior to this amendment?

I should say I actually did worse the 2nd time around. No kidding but there are reasons.
First time around, basically I didn't study enough and didn't study the right things. I wasn't sure what to expect and therefore did not concentrate on the right areas. I spent too much time studying for the morning session (which I did well on) and not enough time studying on the afternoon session.
The 2nd time around I really should have taken a year off and not gone for the next exam. That was my major problem. My company was sold right before I got the results of last falls exam and I lost my job. So I spent the time I should have spent studying working on resumes, interviewing, traveling, and moving. I also got sick right before the exam with a pretty serious problem. Add all this together with the anxiety of taking the exam again and I suffered a panic attack before the exam. It took me 30 minutes at the start of both the morning and the afternoon exams to calm down enough to take the exam and my pulse rate was over 120 due to the medical problems I was dealing with prior to the exam.
One other problem I had the 2nd time around was in my haste to get to the airport I forgot to pack a couple code books. I did not have any design code (UBC/IBC/ASCE) so I forfeited several problems I could have done if I'd have had a code with me.
I have not decided if I am going to go for the exam this October or wait until April this time around. A lot depends on if I have to have surgery or not this fall. I will know that by the end of June. The good news is I should not have to move again any time soon and can finally relax, take a review course and be able to dedicate time to study.

04

Repeat test takers have a lower pass rate because they usually don’t change the way they studied from the first time the failed. So therefore, if you did not study properly the first time, and failed. The second time, you study the same way; the out come is the same, failure!

I took PE mechanical in Texas and failed with a score of 69. I took HVAC afternoon.Sad thing is HVAC is what I do for living and I think I am very good at it.But the type of questions were such that You would guess them right if you have a very good luck.

I don't know how to study for the next P.E. exam in chemical engineering. I failed the P.E. exam 5 times. I got a 68 on the last test. I miss passing by two points. I tried everything. I took a refresher, bought course notes in S.F and MGI. I even study on my own for 40 hours a week for 3 months.

PROBLEMS WITH EXAM RULES

01 You only have one more chance to take the exam

02 I hate to admit this but I just failed my third straight Colorado Mechanical PE exam. I scored 69 on both the first two exams, the third just says FAIL.
I guess I need some help.

03 Along with my letter that I failed was a letter stating that FL changed the law from 5 attempts to 3 before they make you take 12 college credits.
Of course that was my third attempt. I would hope that would not affect those that have already made attempts.
They can't change the rules in the middle of the game

The only way for you to meet THIS NEW CHALLENGE is to be MASSIVELY over prepared,
to solve MASSIVE amounts of problems

  • What does it take to pass the engineering licensure exam
    1.Thorough understanding of the material
    2. Working accurately and fast on the exam
These skills can only be achieved by prolonged and focused structured problem-solving practice
Users are unable to achieve structured problem-solving practice on their own,
they get stuck frequently and they get bogged down and overwhelmed by the theory
Users need a structured format where they can learn efficient problem-solving procedures and algorithms which they can apply on their own,
thereby retaining control of their mastery and skill-building
By hand-solving problems in such a format users can rapidly gain understanding, speed and accuracy:
The keys to passing the exam !

  • 30-hour refreshers offered by industry at $ 2000 cannot retrain you in the 5 year engineering curriculum
Refreshers offered by industry assume that you are very familiar with the subjects and they devote around 1 to 2 hours per engineering course,
How can you relearn tough subjects such as thermodynamics and feedback control in 1 to 2 hours ?

  • To pass the exam you need
    a structured problem-solving training program

  • You are searching for a training provider
who offers a structured problem-solving training program which will train you to solve 1 problem per 2.67 minutes

  • ENSYS is the ONLY engineering training provider

Oregon now offers both the FE / EIT and the PE exams in numerous foreign countries

particularly Japan, Korea, and Malaysia. For these applicants, obtaining a professional license issued by the United States is a means to become, and remain, competitive in the world-wide engineering market. Foreign applicants are increasingly successful in obtaining full licensure as Oregon Professional Engineers. This is particularly impressive because the exams are administered in foreign countries only in English, which is often their second language!
Professional Engineering Licenses issued by the United States are respected internationally,
so the citizens of other nations often seek US licensure

PART 1 - The Teaching Part:  Course Modules

  • PART 1 IS THE TEACHING PART OF THE PROGRAM

In this part, all the course-modules are taught and problems are worked and discussed.

Users are trained in hand-solving problems, implementing calculator routines in problem-solutions,  referencing formulas in the NCEES formula book and working with the PPI study-guides.

A course module consists of subjects, each subject is broken down into topics and subtopics.

The problems in a subject are arranged in a problem-sequence, click here to see a sample problem-sequence.

Each topic is first explained as a step-by-step procedure followed by problems worked by users and instructor.

Every problem is discussed in detail.

The formulas used to solve the problem are highlighted in the formula book.

In part 1, users consult the notes when working problems.

Each course module ends with a summary of the module material, followed by a module final which is graded.

At the end of each module final, problems are discussed and the material is further summarized, reviewed and reinforced.

Users record their individual scores and the instructor records the average class score for that module and the overall class-score for part 1.

PART 2 - The review part: Module Final EXAMS

  • PART 2 IS THE CONSOLIDATION PART OF THE PROGRAM

Part 2 serves to consolidate, refresh and reinforce the material from part 1 to get the user ready for the practice exams in part 3.

All the material from part 1 is reviewed and consolidated to maximize the user's performance in the practice exams.

Since part 1 takes up 4 months, it is important to refresh the material which was covered over the entire 4-month period.

First the material of a course module is summarized followed by each user taking the same module final of part 1.

When working the module final, users should first consult the formula-book and if more reference is needed, they can consult the class-notes.

While users are working the module final, the solutions are simultaneously presented on the computer screen by the instructor.

At the end of the module final, each problem is discussed in detail.

Each module final is graded. the user recorded his individual score and the instructor records the class-score for the module and the overall class-score for part 2.

PART 3 - The practice exam part: Practice Exams

  • PART 3 IS THE PRACTICE PART OF THE PROGRAM

In part 3, users work as many as 10 practice exams, 5 AM exams and 5 PM exams.

Users first work the AM exam, while the solutions are simultaneously presented on the computer.

Each problem is discussed in detail.

Users are only allowed to reference the formula book, practicing both working the problems and gaining skill in looking up and applying formulas from the formula book.

At the end of each exam, problems are discussed and the material is further summarized and reviewed.

The AM exam is followed by the PM section exam.

Users try to achieve a raw score of 70 %.

The practice exams give users feedback on any weaknesses and gaps which users can rectify before the next practice exam.

Each exam is graded. the user recorded his individual score and the instructor records the class-score for the exam and the overall class-score for part 3.

THE TRAINING PROGRAMS USE THE RIMS METHOD

  • The ENSYS EIT Training Program is the engineering degree program, compressed into a 6 to 12 month program
    which uses a hands-on problem-solving teaching format called R-I-M-S

RIMS is an alternative method to learn engineering science, pioneered and developed by ENSYS

RIMS has been succesfully implemented by ENSYS for over 60,000 hours to train thousands of engineering students and professionals.

RIMS has shown dramatic improvements in the acquisition, comprehension and retention of engineering knowledge.

In the RIMS-method, MORE is learned in LESS time
One hour of RIMS session time equals 5 to 10 hours of self-study by the users

At 1000 hours of RIMS session time, the user completes 5000 to 10,000 hours of self-study time.

As the user solves the problem

In the RIMS format, users hand solve between 5000 and 10,000 problems

Users gain confidence, practice and skill and are provided with feedback, reinforcement, repetition and discussion in every phase of the Training program.

    Users are organized

With a comprehensive course kit, with color-coded sheets for quick access to material.

  • Assumptions

    The review industry assumes:
    1. that users learned the material well in school.
    2. that users have retained all their engineering knowledge since graduation.
Therefore, industry offers 20-hour cursory refreshers with 50 practice-problems at training rates of $ 60/hr
The review industry requires full prepayment upfront with no refund after the class has started.

We believe that this training solution is ineffective

    ENSYS assumes the following:
    1. that some users may not have learned the material well in school.
    2. that some users did not work with most engineering knowledge after graduation.
    3. that some users have been out of school for a long time.
    4. that some users may not have taken courses in all exam-subjects in school.
    5. that some users may not have a formal engineering background, but are eligible for the exams.
    6. that some users have forgotten everything.
The half-life of engineering knowledge is 2 years, which means that some users have forgotten 50% of their knowledge every 2 years since graduation.
    7. that some users are too stressed, distracted and overwhelmed with work, project deadlines, family and life responsibilities to study by themselves.
    8.
Attorneys planning to take the Patent Bar Exam to practice in the field of patent law:
The Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE Exam) is a prerequisite for patent bar exam applicants under "Category C" "Category C" states that if you do not have a BS in any Engineering subject (Category A) or a BS in another scientific subject (Category B) you must first pass the FE exam to show that you possess the required technical and scientific training. The FE exam is developed and administered by the
State Board of Engineering Examiners in each state.

Click here for more information about the patent bar exam

    Based on these assumptions
we have designed highly effective structured problem-solving EIT/PE training programs which organize, plan and guide all preparation and studying and which rebuild the user's knowledge base, starting from the ground up.

" there is no alternative to ENSYS "
read what ENSYS users are saying

  • What are the keys to passing the engineering licensure exam ?

    1.Thorough understanding of the material
    2. Working accurately and fast on the exam

These skills can only be achieved by prolonged and focused structured problem-solving practice
    This is exactly the issue:
Users are unable to achieve structured problem-solving practice on their own, they get stuck too frequently and they get bogged down and overwhelmed by the theory.
Users need a structured format where they can learn efficient problem-solving procedures and algorithms which they can apply on their own, thereby retaining control of their mastery and skill-building.
By hand-solving problems in such a format users can rapidly gain understanding, speed and accuracy:
The keys to passing the exam !

In ENSYS training programs users hand-solve 5000 to 10,000 problems in a structured, guided, interactive format
Theory is first presented as a packet of information, a short, step-by-step procedure.
Users then act on this packet of information and reinforce the theory by hand-solving problems which are sequenced in difficulty-levels.
Each hand-solved problem is followed by a detailed discussion to further reinforce the concepts just learned
and the cycle repeats with continued problem-solving.
Users build confidence by accurately working problems themselves, using each problem to gain better understanding and proficiency.

Users see a dramatic and rapid improvement in understanding and in problem-solving skills
Users develop understanding, speed and accuracy:
The keys to passing the exam !

INTRODUCTION: THE ENSYS EIT/PE ENGINEERING RE-EDUCATION PROGRAM

1000 HOUR EIT TRAINING PROGRAM + 2000 HOUR PE TRAINING PROGRAM = 3000 HOURS RE-EDUCATION

THE ENSYS EIT/PE TRAINING PROGRAM IS A 2000 HOUR ENGINEERING RE-EDUCATION PROGRAM

WHAT IS THE ENSYS EIT/PE TRAINING PROGRAM ?

The ENSYS EIT/PE training program is an
engineering re-education program.

Users receive
3000 hours of re-education in engineering ( 1000 hours EIT and/or  2000 hours PE ) which replaces the 1800 hours of engineering instruction received by users in the 5-year engineering degree program.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ?
USERS WHO ARE PREPARING FOR LICENSURE HAVE FORGOTTEN MOST ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE !

1. Most engineering learning in school is done for
short-term memory,  just enough to pass exams which results in a rapid decay of knowledge.

2. The ubiquitous
curving system in engineering school seriously degrades and undermines long-term understanding and retention, corrupts the learning process and   further accelerates the decay process.

3. Engineers coming out of school experience the
2-year half-life:  50% of knowledge is lost every two years.

4. Users realize that only a
massive re-education effort will prepare them for the professional engineers license.

5. Users face the daunting process of having to
relearn all their coursework.

6. Users only receive
75% of the EIT/PE coursework in their engineering degree program.

7. Users realize that the only way to get ready for licensure is to go
back to engineering school, to become re-educated in engineering by retaking the entire 5 year engineering degree program, to get a complete re-education.

8. With
work, family, life and financial responsibilities, this is impossible, users have neither the time nor the financial resources nor the inclination to retake the
5 year engineering program.

9. However, the only way to pass the EIT/PE exam is to
become completely re-educated.

HOW DOES THE ENTIRE REVIEW INDUSTRY SOLVE THIS PROBLEM ? WITH 30 HOUR EIT/PE REFRESHERS COSTING AS MUCH AS $ 2000

These refreshers are only designed to refresh, they are not designed to re-educate the 5-years of the engineering degree program.

Users taking 30-hour refreshers find that
there is nothing to refresh, all knowledge is gone !

THE 5 YEAR ENGINEERING DEGREE CURRICULUM AT THE UNIVERSITY CONTAINS:

30 engineering courses, each course has 60 hours of class-time, for a total of 1800 hours of class-time.

Universities charge
out-of-state tuition for engineering post-graduate courses ( courses taken after users have received the degree ).

The average cost of a post-graduate course is $ 3000, resulting in a tuition bill of
$ 90,000 for 30 courses if taken at the university.

Users preparing for licensure are
only interested in obtaining the knowledge, they already have their degrees.

The university system is
not designed for re-education.

With respect to time: users cant devote 5 years to retake engineering courses at the university and delay 5 years of PE salary.

With respect to logistics: engineering courses are given in the mornings when engineers have to work.

With respect to finances: users dont have $ 90,000 to spend on retaking the 5 year engineering degree.

THE ENSYS EIT/PE RE-EDUCATION PROGRAM

ENSYS is the only institution which has recognized this challenging re-education problem faced by engineers.

We realize that licensure is the gateway to much higher earnings for engineers.

The average PE salary is $ 25,000 more than a non-PE salary, resulting in up to one million dollars more in career earnings.

We have solved this challenging re-education problem by pioneering and developing the engineering re-education program.

We are the only organization offering a 3000 hour engineering re-education program which completely reteaches all 1800 hours of the entire 5-year engineering degree at a fraction ( 2% ) of the university tuition cost.

1. It compresses the entire 5-year engineering degree into two, 6 to 12 month re-education programs.

2. The lecture format is replaced by a very effective hands-on problem-solving training format.

3. The EIT re-education program runs for 1000 hours over a 6 to 12 month period.

4. The PE re-education program runs for 2000 hours over a 6 to 12 month period.

5. 30 engineering courses are taught,  each course has 100 hours of session time, for a total of 3000 hours of class time.

6. Between 10,000 and 20,000 problems are solved by users.

7. Users can take either the EIT program or the PE program, or both.

8. Priced at 2% of market rates , from $ 1.00 per hour.

FEATURES OF THE ENSYS EIT/PE TRAINING PROGRAM

1. The ENSYS program  uses a highly effective training-method: R-I-M-S :  Realtime-Interactive-Monitored-Problem-Solving.

RIMS is a hands-on problem-solving format which has been deployed for 15 years by thousands of engineers, technicians and students.

2. In the ENSYS program all work is done in-session.

3. The ENSYS program offers the most sophisticated live-interactive-internet audio/video/data multipoint conferencing technology.

4. The ENSYS program offers the most user-friendly financial packages.

5. The ENSYS program offers the lowest hourly training rates in the engineering license review industry with rates at 2% of the market, from $ 1.00 per hour.

6. The ENSYS program offers the highest pass-rates ( over 90% ) in the engineering license review industry.

You will find more details in the summary of our reviews, below.

We have prepared users for licensure, for almost two decade now  click here for user testimonials

We offer exactly what engineering licensure candidates are seeking

1. To pass the first time !

2. No self-study required.

3. All the work is done in the sessions.

4. Very affordable rates.

We are setting a new, ultra-high standard for LICENSURE PREPARATION

It is impossible for any other organization to offer what we have, analyze the summary for yourself, and draw your own conclussions.

Until now, universities, and a few private companies have offered lecture-based reviews offering  about 20 to 30 hours of session time with  very low pass-rates, users have to do all the hard work outside the review, on their own, on their own time.

All LICENSING EXAMS  have switched to the new multiple-choice format, testing users on breadth and depth of knowledge  which means that candidates will have to know ALL areas in their fields.

Other reviews, with high overhead and with expensive professors and consultants teaching, can only offer a few hours of lectures and will eventually become inadequate and obsolete, unable to meet the challenges of the new exam formats.

The ENSYS eit/pe TRAINING PROGRAMS are specifically designed FOR THE FOLLOWING

1. Meet the challenges of the new exam formats.

2. Prepare candidates who did not take all exam subjects in school.

3. Consider that users have VERY busy lives, job, family, distractions, which makes it hard for users to put in time to study.

4. Offer reviews in which NO outside studying is required.

In the ENSYS eit/pe TRAINING PROGRAMS all material is taught from the ground up

This makes the review ideal for:

1.Users who have graduated many years ago and feel rusty in the material.

2. Users who may not have received all the exam component courses in their university engineering degree program.

3. Users who have non-engineering degrees and who have never taken some or all exam component courses for credit at their universities.

Before ENSYS EIT/PE TRAINING PROGRAMS,  users preparing for engineering licensure had these options

OPTION 1: SELF-STUDY

Very time-consuming, distractions, missing background, poor organization.

Conclussion: when users try to self-study, they get overwhelmed, give up, and hope to get lucky on the exam by " christmas-treeing" the exam.

OPTION 2: ATTEND A SHORT REFRESHER

Users see someone copy equations from a sheet onto the blackboard.

Very few problems are solved, and if they are, they are solved by the instructor, who typically is a professor or a consulting engineer, teaching the review for a few hours, for extra income.

The main focus of part-time EIT/PE teaching faculty is on their careers, outside of the reviews.

Teaching a review, to part-time EIT/PE teaching faculty means supplemental income, without professional career interests.

All problems to be solved by users are assigned as homework, to be worked on their own time.

Users have to develop their own study-methods and  time-management, which usually results in haphazard studying which results in poor performance on the exam.

Users get very frustrated, watching someone work a problem which does nothing to help them.

Most users are not in "problem-solving mode" anymore.

Conclussion: users are better of, studying on their own.

With the ENSYS EIT/PE TRAINING PROGRAMS users now have another option

OPTION 3: ENSYS EIT/PE TRAINING PROGRAMS

1. All work is done in-session.

YOU work the problems, in a guided, structured, interactive, hands-on, problem solving format.

2. No studying is required outside the sessions.

Our programs use a structured STUDY-METHOD called RIMS: Realtime-Interactive-Monitored-ProblemSolving, which has been tested by thousands of users.

3. Our programs offer a TIME-MANAGEMENT system: every hour in the review is equivalent to at least 5 hours on your own.

4. YOU DONT COMMUTE TO US, WE COME TO YOU, TO YOUR COMPUTER !

INSTRUCTOR'S SPECIALIZATION

OTHER REVIEWS

Employ part-time review instructors who get 30 hours yearly EIT/PE teaching experience.

University reviews are taught by lecturers, professors and consulting engineers.

These individuals are focused on their main careers and are teaching reviews part-time, for extra income.

They are NOT specialized in teaching structured reviews.

When deadlines come up in their main careers, they lose their concentration in teaching the reviews.

What is not understood is that teaching engineering reviews is an important specialization.

Just because someone is an expert in a certain field  in engineering does not make him an expert in teaching a review.

ENSYS EIT/PE TRAINING PROGRAMS

Employs full time EIT/PE instructors  who get 3000 to 5000 hours yearly EIT/PE teaching experience.

Teaching EIT/PE reviews is an important specialization in engineering.

When seeking medical care, everyone searches for the best medical specialist, why should it be any different when it come to your licensure, is it wise to trust your licensure-preparation to part-timers, individuals who are not specialized in teaching reviews ?

Lecturing experience is exactly the WRONG experience to teach reviews.

A review should not be taught as  a lecture.

Users have to be engaged in the learning process, and that can only be done in a problem-solving review, such as ENSYS reviews.

Many exam candidates are not in problem-solving mode anymore, and they have to be trained in structured problem-solving.

Lecture-reviews are the wrong format, only a problem-solving format such as ENSYS reviews provide the required training.

Universities use an army of instructors, each one taking a small part of the reviews.

This increases overhead and cost to users.

Session-time becomes very expensive, and must therefore be restricted to about 20 hours.

At ENSYS all teaching expertise is concentrated in one individual.

The resulting cost-savings are passed along to users.
